Hex opens in Miami, when celebrations roil the city after the announcement of Castro’s death. Amid the chaos, two tourists, Langston and Azaril, search for their missing friend Damian, a charismatic seducer who mysteriously disappears during the celebrations. Frustrated in their initial attempts to trace Damian’s whereabouts, the two seek help from Langston’s aunt, a renowned psychic; she guides them on a quest that entangles them in Damian’s family history—unexpectedly attracting the attention of powerful supernatural forces.

Review snippets:

“… This sci-fi mystical mystery fantasy romance …   is a genre-blend that works magic. A follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Traitor to the Race, Hex reaffirms Scott as one of our brightest literary lights.”

“The news of Castro’s death has set off the grandest of carnival celebrations along Miami’s South Beach …   Four friends …   are caught up in the revelry, till one disappears. Darieck Scott’s brocaded prose follows them on a rollercoaster of an adventure that pushes over the edge of horror and the supernatural, witchcraft, and strange transformations that will mystify, fascinate, and delight you till the end!”
